The Federal Hockey League’s Port Huron Prowlers have added forward Yianni Liarakos to its 2017-18 roster. According to the team and league websites, Liarakos could be a major addition to the team offensively as he is coming off a record breaking season with the Blind River Beavers of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL).
Coming off a huge playoff series win against the rival Thunderbirds; the Soo Eagles are looking to build from that momentum in 2017-18. Since moving from the NAHL back to the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League in time for the 2015-16 season, the Eagles have not particularly enjoyed that cross-border rivalry with the ‘other’ Soo.
The Soo Eagles shrugged off its rough previous weekend and broke into the win column in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Friday (Sept. 18). After dropping both ends of a cross-border series with the Soo Thunderbirds the previous weekend, the Eagles hosted the Blind River Beavers at Pullar Stadium and collected a 4-1 win.
After a tough opening weekend, the Soo Eagles will get a couple of chances to break into the win column on home ice this weekend.
