Blue Jackets sign Yevenko
After reassigning him to the Lake Erie Monsters on the weekend, the Columbus Blue Jackets signed defenseman Oleg Yevenko to a one-year two-way contract Thursday (Oct. 1).
A 24-year-old 6’7,” 229 lbs. defenseman, from Minsk, Belarus, Yevenko finished his schooling at UMass-Amherst last season and also played four games with Adirondack in the AHL. At UMass, Yevenko collected five assists and 51 penalty minutes in 36 games and he will be a rookie in the AHL this season.
In two pre-season games with the Blue Jackets he collected seven penalty mintutes and a +2 rating.
Terms of the deal were not announced, in keeping with team policy.
