Blues add Savard to coaching staff

The defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues added to its coaching staff with the signing of Marc Savard today.

Savard, 42, from Ottawa collected 706 points (207g, 499a) over 13 NHL seasons. Drafted in the Fourth Round (91st) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Savard played parts of two seasons with the New York Rangers before moving on to the Calgary Flames for four seasons, the Atlanta Thrashers for three more and finally, the Boston Bruins for five seasons.

Unfortunately, Savard’s career was cut short midway through the 2010-11 season due to concussion issues.

Savard will join the Blues’ staff, working under Head Coach Craig Berube who joined the club mid-season and helped its amazing run from last place in January to Stanley Cup Champions in June.

TSN reported the story today (July 24, 2019) but no specifics on coaching responsibilities were included in the story.
