Baun’s three points paces Blackhawks past Habs

Kyle Baun collected two goals and a helper and was named First Star as the Chicago Black Hawks picked up an impressive 5-1 road win at the Bell Centre in Montreal Friday (Sept. 25).

A 23-year-old prospect looking to build on the three games he played with the Hawks last season, Baun scored the final goal of a three-unanswered first period goals uprising by the Hawks and then responded to the Canadiens’ lone goal with his 3:02 into the middle period.

Other Black Hawks’ goals came from Ryan Garbutt and Garret Ross who also added an assist and Jan Hejda into an empty net with 57 seconds to play. Trevor Daley and Andrew Desjardins both picked up two assists in the game and Scott Darling went the distance in goal, stopping 22 of 23 shots.

Zach Kassian notched the lone Montreal goal and Carey Price made 26 saves.

Along with Baun as the First Star, Garret Ross along with Charles Hudon of the Habs earned recognition
