Wings assign Correau to Griffins

With just over a week to go before the start of the NHL regular season, the Red Wings still have 45 players in pre-season camp.

The roster got a little lighter Thursday (Oct. 1) though as goaltender Jared Coreau was reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Coreau, a 23-year-old, 6’4,” 236 lbs. goaltender from Perth, ON split time last season between the Griffins and the team’s ECHL affiliate, the Toledo Walleye. In 25 games with the Griffs, he posted a 2.20 Goals Against Average and a .927 Save Percentage.

The move leaves the Wings with still 28 forwards and 14 defensemen in camp along with three goaltenders. The Griffins now also have three goaltenders in camp along with eight defensemen and a dozen forwards.
