Storm draft pick, Matt Holmes commits to Brown

Kearney, NE. (Courtesy Tri-City Storm) – Tri-City Storm draft pick Matt Holmes has announced a commitment to play college hockey at Brown University.  Holmes was drafted 170th overall in the 11th round of the 2018 USHL Phase II draft.

Matt Holmes, 19, of Rye, New York skated in 28 games last season and scored 13 goals for the Salisbury School Knights in Salisbury, Connecticut. He also registered 21 assists for the Knights who finished the 2017-2018 season with a record of 24-1-1. In addition to his time with Salisbury, Holmes appeared in 27 games last season with the Mid-Fairfield Rangers U18 program. He netted eight goals and recorded 10 assists for the Rangers.

The Brown Bears men’s hockey program has appeared in four NCAA Tournament’s, and has reached the Frozen Four three times. Recent Brown alumni to reach the NHL include Bobby Farnham, Garnet Hathaway, and former Storm forward Nick Lappin.
