Spirit dumped 7-1 by Spits
The Saginaw Spirit is still searching for its first regulation victory followig its latest test, a 7-1 loss against the host Spitfires at the WFCU Center in Windsor Thursday (Oct. 1) night.
Pounded with 43 shots, Evan Cormier, 17, from Bowmanville, ON tried to stand his ground, but the Spits owned a 2-0 lead after a period.
Jesse Barwell, 18, from Mississauga, ON pulled one back for the Spirit 2:03 into the middle frame, but Windsor went on to fire two more and then added three more in the third to pull away.
Logan Brown, 17, from Chesterfield, MO and Patrick Sanvido, 19, from Guelph,ON and a Seventh Round (195th Overall) selection of the Dallas Stars in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, each collected three assists to pace the Spitfires with goals coming from: Anthony Stefano, 19, from Sault Ste. Marie, ON; Gabriel Vilardi, 16, from Kingston, ON: Luke Kirwan, 18, from Syracuse, NY; Jalen Chatfield, 19, from Ypsilante, MI; Bradley Latour, 20, from Barrie, ON, Aaron Luchuk, 18, from Kingston, ON and Cristiano DiGiacinto, 19, from Hamilton, ON, a Sixth Round (170th Overall) Selection of the Tampa Bay Lightning at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
The Spirit sits at 0-2-0-1 early in the season and will continue its quest for a win Saturday (Oct. 3) when the Guelph Storm pays a visit to Saginaw.
