Saginaw Spirit opens 2017-18 Training Camp Aug. 28

The Saginaw Spirit will open its 2017-18 Ontario Hockey League training camp at the Dow Center in Saginaw on Monday, Aug. 28, 2017.

Following a ninth-place finish in the tough Western Conference a season ago, the Saginaw have made some major changes through the off season including an entirely new coaching staff, led by Troy Smith, added just a week ago.

A solid and promising lineup of 44 players (23 forwards, 15 defense and six goaltenders) will begin camp on Monday, divided into three practice squad. Teams will compete in matches on Monday and Tuesday with the roster trimmed to two teams on Wednesday which will see practices through the day and the annual ‘Blue vs. White’ Intrasquad Game Wedneasday night.

Spirit opens the preseason at The Dow Event Center on Saturday, Sept. 2 against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. For ticket information, call (989) 497-7747.
