Sherman added as Black Hawks’ hockey ops assistant.

Waterloo, Iowa– (Courtesy Waterloo Black Hawks) – Jon Sherman has been added to the Waterloo Black Hawks staff as hockey operations assistant, the team announced Thursday (July 27, 2017).

Sherman will contribute to the organization’s video analysis, statistics tracking, and player development efforts.

“Jon brings enthusiasm and new perspectives which will benefit the Black Hawks,” said Head Coach and General Manager P.K. O’Handley.  “We look forward to his help, and to helping him to establish himself at the outset of a great career.” 

Sherman is a 2017 graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, where he studied political science.  He spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the Hoosiers’ ACHA Division II squad.  Last summer, the Washington D.C.-area native worked with the San Diego Jr. Gulls AAA hockey program.

The Black Hawks are preparing for the 2017/18 United States Hockey League season after winning 40 games – the second-highest total in team history – last winter.  Season tickets for Waterloo’s 30-game home schedule are available now by calling (319) 232-3444; individual game tickets will go on sale September 1st.  The Hawks’ first game of the coming season will be October 7th on the road against the Sioux Falls Stampede.
