Reilly returns to Wild — Pro transactions this week.

Among the early week pro hockey transactions among Midwest teams Monday and Tuesday:

The Minnesota Wild returned Mike Reilly, a 23-year-old defenseman from Chicago to the Iowa Wild Monday, but recalled him once again to the Twin Cities on Wednesday (Oct. 19).

Reilly played one game with the Wild early this season and last year he served for 29 games with the top team and 45 in Iowa, collecting a total of six goals and 24 assists. Reilly also played in the home game for the Wild on Tuesday night against the Grand Rapids Griffins, recording two shots and finishing a -1 in the contest.

Reilly was drafted in the Fourth Round (98th Overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets and signed as a Free Agent with the Wild in the summer of 2015.

On Tuesday, the Wild sent Joel Eriksson Ek to the Iowa Wild on loan. Eriksson Ek, a 19-year-old forward was the team’s First Round (20th Overall) Selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and last year, he played 41 games with Farjestad of the Swedish Elite League, collecting 15 points (9g, 6a) in 41 games.

The young winger made his North American pro debut in Des Moines against the Grand Rapids Griffins and scored a goal on one of his two shots in a 4-3 loss.

In other NHL Transactions for Midwest teams this week:

The Detroit Red Wings signed forward Givani Smith, 18, from Toronto to a three-year entry level contract on Monday. Smith was selected by the Wings in the Second Round (46th Overall) of this past summer’s NHL Entry Draft and he has since returned to the OHL’s Guelph Storm. Last year Smith picked up 42 points (23g, 19a) along with 146 PIM in 65 games for the Storm and so far this season he has picked up five points (2g, 3a) and 24 PIM in seven games with the Storm.

Among the AHL Transactions this week:

The Grand Rapids Griffins sent 23-year-old forward, Jack Barre to Toledo of the ECHL on Monday (Oct. 17)  on Loan. Barre, a graduate of Dartmouth College this past spring did not play in Grand Rapids on the weekend.

On Tuesday (Oct. 18), the Milwaukee Admirals welcomed Justin Kirkland, a 20-year-old winger from Alberta who opened the season in Cincinnati with the Cyclones, but was reassigned by the parent Nashville Predators.

Kirkland, a 6’3″, 185 lbs. forward that can play either wing was originally selected by the Preds in the Third Round (62nd Overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and he wrapped up a four-year run with the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL last season with 67 points (31g, 36a) in 69 regular season games and then another 15 points (11g, 4a) in 18 playoff matches.

The young winger played one game with the Cyclones on the weekend, recording no points.

Also on Tuesday, the Cleveland Monsters signed veteran defenseman Keith Aulie to a PTO. The 27-year-old Saskatchewan native was a Fourth Round (116th Overall) Selection of the Calgary Flames in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and since then has appeared in 167 NHL contests with the Toronto Maple Leafs and  Tampa Bay Lightning along with 145 American Hockey League contests with the Toronto Marlies, Abbotsford Heat, Syracuse Crunch, Norfolk Admirals, Oklahoma City Barons and Springfield Falcons. Last season, Aulie appeared in seven games with the Falcons before moving overseas for another 23 games with HIFK in the German Liga.

The Monsters also sent 24-year-old goaltender Michael Houser to the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. Houser, a native of Youngstown, OH turned pro in the 2012-13 season and since then has played with San Antonio, Ontario and Cleveland of the AHL as well as stints in Cincinnati and Manchester of the ECHL.

Among the ECHL Transactions for Midwest based teams this week:

The Kalamazoo Wings added two players: forward Brian Hart and defenseman Adam Comrie from Syracuse on Tuesday.

Hart, 22, from Maine was selected in the Second Round (53rd Overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. After graduation from Harvard University he turned pro last year playing 25 games in Syracuse and another 36 with Greenville Swamp Rabbits in the ECHL. He scored two goals with the Crunch and added 15 points (11g, 4a) in Greenville.

Comrie, a 26-year-old native of Ottawa was a Third Round (80th Overall) Selection of the Florida Panthers in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Since then he has appeared in 196 AHL games with the Rochester Americans, Worcester Sharks, Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Syracuse Crunch of the AHL and another 125 ECHL contests with the Cincinnati Cyclones, Greenville Road Warriors and Reading Royals.

The Wings also released Justin Hoomaian, a 25-year-old forward from Detroit, MI from his Standard Player Contract (SPC). Hoomaian, a graduate of Michigan State University played five games with the Wings last season and also played in the two weekend contests for the Wings, collecting an assist.

The Indy Fuel released Justin Hussar, 24, from New York from his SPC yesterday as well. Hussar graduated from Merrimack in the spring and appeared in a couple of games with the Fuel, and then suited up for the Fuel for one game on the weekend as well.

The Cylones signed 24-year-old forward Andrew Yogan to an SPC on Tuesday. A Fourth Round (100th Overall) selection of the New York Rangers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Yogan finished his run with the Erie Otters/Peterborough Petes of the OHL and then appeared in 167 AHL games with the Connecticut Whale, Hartford Wolf Pack, San Antonio Rampage, Iowa Wild, Syracuse Crunch and St. Johns IceCaps along with another 70 ECHL games with the Greenville Road Warriors and Cyclones. He also played 10 games in Europe earlier this year, collecting seven points (1g, 6a) with HC Bolzano.

The Wichita Thunder added 26-year-old defenseman Chris Rumble to its roster, on loan from the Binghamton Senators. Rumble graduated from Canisius College and played primarily with the Evansville Icemen where he collected 41 points (11g, 30a) in 72 games over the past couple of seasons.

The Kalamazoo Wings made two more moves on Wednesday, signing Tyler Biggs to an SPC and releasing defenseman Chris Leone from his.

Biggs, 23, from New York, was a First Round (22nd Overall) Selection of the Toronto Maple Leafs at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Since then he has played 119 AHL contests with the Toronto Marlies and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins as well as 10 ECHL matches with the Orlando Solar Bears and Wheeling Nailers.

Leone, 24, from Dearborn Heights, MI, graduated from Adrian College in the spring and played four games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at the end of the regular season.
