Jenks lifts Walleye past Komets in opener

A.J. Jenks fired the game winner lifting the Toledo Walleye to a 2-1 win on home ice at the Huntington Center against the Fort Wayne Komets in the opening contest of their Best of Seven Central Division Final series Friday (April 28, 2017).

All three goals came in the middle period including the first by Landon Oslanski who fired his third of the playoffs for the Walleye, 2:27 into the frame. Trevor Cheek notched the only goal the Komets put up on the night just before the halfway mark and Jenks’ goal came about four minutes later.

Jeff Lerg collected the win in goal, stopping 24 of 25 Fort Wayne shots while Pat Nagle handled all but two of the 24 shots he faced in goal at the other end of the pond.

Game two of this series will also be played at the Huntington Center Saturday (April 29).
