Iowa Wild reduces eight from roster

The Iowa Wild trimmed eight players from its American Hockey League roster Sunday (Oct. 4) and got to its required 24 players to open the AHL season next weekend.

The team sent three players: forwards Raphael Bussieres and Olivier Archambault along with defenseman Alex Gudbranson to the Quad City Mallards, ECHL affiliate of both the Minnesota and Iowa Wild.

Five other players: defensemen Jake Baker and Mike Monfredo along with forwards Mike Hoeffel, Zach Budish and Matthew Neal were released from tryout contracts.

As a result of these moves, the Iowa Wild now has 14 forwards, seven defenders and three goaltenders in camp and the focus will shift to preparing for the regular season opener, Saturday (Oct. 10) against the visiting Charlotte Checkers, AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricane, the first of a two-game weekend set between the two clubs.
