Gordon shutout leads T-Birds past Eagles
Brendon Gordon is from Sault Ste. Marie, MI, but he was representing the other Soo, — the Soo (ON) Thunderbird when he stopped all 19 of the shots he faced from the Soo (MI) Eagles Saturday (Oct. 3) at the Essar Center.
At the other end, Jack Hickey, 20, from Hinsdale, IL faced 40 shots and stopped 36 for the Soo Eagles who dropped its fourth straight game and fell to 1-6-0-1 on the season including four losses to its cross-border rivals.
Drake Pilon, 17, from Sault Ste. Marie (ON) scored two for his hometown team including the game winner halfway through the first period and others game from Zach Senecal, 17, from Sault Ste. Marie (ON) and Caleb Bowman, 17, also from Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
The Eagles will look to snap out of this four-game funk when it heads back into action on home ice Friday (Oct. 9) against the Blind River Beavers.
