Glover lifts Brahmas to overtime win against Jets
Drake Glover’s goal 13 minutes into overtime capped a Lone Star comeback as the Brahmas captured a 3-2 win against the Janesville Jets in the opener of their Best of Three North American Hockey League Robertson Cup semi-final series at the Essentia Health Duluth Heritage Center.
Pete Kessel provided Lone Star with the only goal of the opening period, but second period tallies from Kip Hoffman, his eighth of the post season and Keegan Miller had the Jets up 2-1 with 20 minutes to go.
John Zimmerman evened it up for the Brahmas near the seven-minute mark of the third period to push the game to overtime.
Max Prawdzik picked up the win in goal with 28 saves for the Brahmas and Jacob Barczewski made 30 stops in goal for the Jets.
The Jets represent the Midwest Division at the Robertson Cup, having won the division with a sweep of Coulee Region Chill in the opening round and then the Fairbanks IceDogs in the second round. The Brahmas have come out of the South Division which includes just one Midwest-based team, the Topeka Roadrunners who did not qualify for the post season this year.
The other semi-final matches Aberdeen from the Central Division at Aston from the East Division.
