Fuel signs ECHL rookies Burton and Llewellyn

Indy Fuel, ECHL affiliate of the American Hockey League’s Rockford Ice Hogs and the Chicago BlackHawks of the NHL, added a pair of rookies to its roster on Thursday (Sept. 7, 2017).

Jack Burton, a 24-year-old defenseman from Maryland and Darby Llewellyn, a 21-year-old winger from Ann Arbor, MI both signed on Thursday with the Fuel.

Burton, made a four-game debut with the team after finishing his fourth season at Colby College, a NCAA Division 3 school in Maine.

Burton appeared in 85 games there and collected 52 points (18g, 34a). Before that, Burton played a couple of seasons with the Boston Bandits in the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL).

Llewellyn took the junior route, playing five full seasons with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey league where he picked up 171 points (95g, 76a) in 301 games along with 200 PIM. He made the jump to the top level junior league from the Honeybaked U-16 team as a 15-year old and he wore the ‘A’ on his jersey his final two seasons with the Rangers.
