Fuel brings back Schneider and McGuire

The Indy Fuel has been one of the busier teams through August so far including bringing back a couple of its younger prospects: Peter Schneider and Johnny McGuire for the 2015-16 campaign.

Schneider, a 24-year-old , 5’11,” 192 lbs native of Klosterneuburg, Austria made a quick debut with the team at the end of last season, playing 10 games and collecting eight points (4g, 4a) after finishing his final year at Notre Dame.

The right winger played a season of junior with Indiana of the USHL as well as a couple of seasons of junior in Austia, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

McGuire is a 21-year-old, 6’1,” 190 lbs. forward from Lindsay, ON who scored a goal in a 20-game stint with the Fuel last season while collecting 56 penalty minutes.

That wrapped up his second season of pro hockey as he split time the previous season with Rochester in the AHL and Idaho in the ECHL. McGuire played three seasons of junior, starting with the home town Muskies in Lindsay of the OJHL before moving on to the OHL with Erie and Oshawa.

Massar and Marshall signed

More recently, the Fuel added two more to its lineup this week, bringing back Pete Massar for a  second season while adding rookie Ben Marshall.

Massar is a 26-year-old 5’9,” 181 lbs. forward from Williston, VT who played his rookie pro season with the Fuel last year, appearing in 54 games and putting up 30 points (10g, 20a) and 37 penalty minutes.

Massar played five seasons of college hockey, first at Clarkson, then for three seasons at University of Vermont. After finishing the 2013-14 season, he moved on to play at Missouri Mavericks, playing in a couple of playoff matches.

Marshall, a 22 year old, 5’9,” 161 lbs. defenseman from Mahtomedi, MN was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the Seventh Round (201st Overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

At the time, he was just transitioning from high school to junior, playing a season in the USHL with Omaha before moving on to play four seasons at University of Minnesota. Last year, Marshall was the Assistant Captain on the Gophers, playing in 39 games and contributing 11 points (2g, 9a) and 20 penalty minutes.

Fuel adds Stroh and Seckel

Earlier this month, the Fuel announced the signings of Kyle Stroh who is returning for a second season with the Fuel along with another rookie forward, Reed Seckel.

Stroh, a 22-year-old, 6’1,” 192 lbs. center from Vibank, SK last season played in 72 games — the first 32 at Rapid City and the final 40 with the Fuel. Stroh put up 47 points (25g, 22a); 33 of them with the Fuel where he finished with a +9 on ice rating. Before moving to Indy last season, Stroh also had two previous seasons with the Rush, in the CHL. He played junior in the SJHL in Saskatchewan  and attended St. Norbert College in Wisconsin for four years as well.

Seckel is a 25-year-old, 5’10,” 183 lbs. forward from Melvin Michigan who will be entering his first full season of pro hockey having made a 10-game debut with the Toledo Walleye and collecting an assist there at the end of last season.

Seckel began his junior career with Topeka in the NAHL before moving on to a couple of seasons with the Green Bay Gamblers followed by five years at Northern Michigan University, including one as the team’s Assistant Captain.
