Fighting Saints claim Hale 13th Overall

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Courtesy Dubuque Fighting Saints) — The Dubuque Fighting Saints hockey staff made 10 selections in Phase I of the USHL Draft, including six forwards and four defensemen.

The entire draft class consisted of 2001 birth dates.

“I think we got some good players that we targeted,” said Kalle Larsson, the Saints’ director of player personnel. “We’re really excited about our picks, and we look forward to seeing them in Main Camp in June.”

“There’s a lot of work that goes into these few hours at the draft, and the scouting staff has done a great job of getting us the information that we needed to make informed selections in Phase I.”

The 2017 draft class is headlined by Minnesota product Jake Hale, a forward who notched 20 goals in 24 games at Minneapolis High School. He is committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
