Eagles even set with Walleye

Three goals in 3:13 provided a bulk of the scoring for the Colorado Eagles who evened the East Coast Hockey League Western Conference Championship Series with the Toledo Walleye with a 4-3 edge at the Huntington Center in Toledo on Saturday (May 13, 2017).

Evan Rankin opened the scoring with his eighth of the playoffs, putting the Walleye on the board just 3:06 in, but Jake Marto started the Eagle barrage at the 5:37 mark with his tying goal.

Julien Nantel scored to put the Eagles in front a little over two minutes later and Alex Belzile made it a 3-1 cushion at the 8:50 mark. That lead held up until the end of the opening period.

Kyle Bonis fired his second of the playoffs near the halfway mark of the second period and it was still a 3-2 game heading to the final 20.

Matt Register added one for the Eagles 1:44 into the third and Kyle Bonis fired his second of the night with 9:05 to play, but the Walleye could get no closer, Lukas Hafner turning in a 26-save effort to pick up the narrow win in goal for the Eagles.

Jeff Lerg stopped 18 in goal for the Walleye.

The series shifts to the Budweiser Events Center in Colorado for the middle three games of the series, beginning on Wednesday (May 17).
