Blair looking to make ECHL jump with Rush

The Rapid City Rush, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and American Hockey League’s Iowa Wild, added defenseman Brandon Blair to its pre-season roster on Tuesday (Sept. 5, 2017).

Blair is looking to make the jump from the SPHL to the ECHL having played most of the past three seasons with the Pensacola Ice Pilots and wining the President’s Cup there in the spring of 2016.

Blair, a rugged 6’2,” 245 lbs defender played in 122 games with the Ice Pilots, picking up 16 points (3g, 13a) and 422 penalty minutes. Blair began his pro career with the Danville Dashers and Dayton Demonz of the Federal Hockey League, playing 73 games with 17 points (5g, 12a) and 233 penalty minutes.

Blair made the jump from the Federal league to the SPHL midway through the 2014-15 campaign. Last season, Blair made his debut in the ECHL, playing seven games with the Norfolk Admirals, collecting no points and 19 PIM.
