Dumba’s overtime marker lifts Wild to pre-season win

The Minnesota Wild and host Winnipeg Jets played 64:12 before Matt Dumba finally found a way past Connor Hellebuyck in a 1-0 overtime thriller played in Winnipeg.

Niklas Backstrom, locked into a fierce three way battle for the position of goaltender helped his own cause in a big way with a 28 save shutout effort that earned him First Star honors.

Ondrej Pavelec also went the distance for the host Jets, stopping 18 of 19 before Dumba, the game’s Second Star finally found a way by him.

Assists on the goal went to Justin Fontaine and Charlie Coyle.

The Wild will be back in action on Thursday night at Columbus.
