Courtney returns to Mavs

The Missouri Mavericks announced on its team website today, Andrew Courtney would be returning for a sixth season with the squad having signed a standard player contract.

That’s big news for the Mavericks who will be returning a player that proved not only potent, but consistent this season. The 6’3″, 201 lbs. native of Belleville, ON played in all 72 regular season games for the Missouri squad, scoring a team record 36 goals and adding 22 assists for 58 points, second best on the team behind only Sebastien Thinel. Courtney also racked up 93 penalty minutes.

Needless to say, Mavericcks Head coach/Director of Hockey Operations, Richard Matvichuk was thrilled at getting Courtney back into the fold.

“Courtney is a fan-favorite and a leader in the locker room,” said Matvichuk.  “Having a proven goal-scorer like Courtney on the ice is a bonus when you look at what he means to this community and this team.  We’re excited to have him back in a Mavs sweater this upcoming season.”

Mavericks are looking to improve on last season’s 28-35-5-4 performance that saw them finish sixth in the Central Division and 15 points out of the post season.
