Another comeback for Thunder in Atlanta

The Wichita Thunder got a jump on the weekend action Thursday (Oct. 27) once again rallying back from an early deficit to open its two-game road series against the Atlanta Gladiators at Infinite Energy Arena.

Early period goals by A.J. White and Tyler Murovich had the host team up 2-0 by the five minute mark of the second period, but it was all Thunder after that as the visitors held an 18-10 edge in shots through the middle period and finally hit the board with a goal from Louick Marcotte with 7:17 to play in the frame.

Alexis Loiseau tied the game 38 seconds into the final period and Chris Rumble put the Wichita squad in front for the first time 35 seconds later. Gabriel Gagne, 19 finished it off, the 19-year-old Quebec native firing his first professional goal with 3:52 to play.

Scott Greenham made 26 saves in the contest to pick up the win in goal for the Thunder and Steve Racine turned aside 35 in goal for the Gladiators.

The win wrapped up a 2-0 trek through the south with previous stop in South Carolina and improved the team’s record to 3-1-0-0 after a season opening defeat against Tulsa. The team will be out of action now until Nov. 4 when it hosts the Utah Grizzlies for a pair of games.
