Aggressive new plan

When I laid out the cash to get this blog site started, I was hoping to turn it into a successful website. This past spring I paid up for a second year on the location having proven not much.

I took the plunge on this after thinking about it and either putting it on the back burner or going through a bit of a false start — several times over the previous half dozen hockey seasons or more.

I almost always find that the niche I have selected is just so big. I know how I want it to look and what I more or less want it to be but there are two major issues I think.

First, I am old school — A writer with a newspaper background now north of 50.

The new information age has great advantages, making it possible to get my thoughts and ramblings out there for people to read in a relatively easy and cheap way. I say easy, but I have found the challenge of getting the information onto a website in a manner that will attract readers to be difficult.

And time consuming — that is the second issue. I don’t have the expertise to get my information in a good format and there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to get all of the information and opinion out there in a way I want to while still doing the necessities in life — namely holding down a full time job.

I am back at this once again starting today — August is the month I always get excited for the coming season and this season plans to be a great one at every level. Side projects including a video type weekly diary on the local junior hockey team I support and a similar type thing for local hockey at the junior, high school and youth levels will make time even more valuable. They primary focus will be on video type coverage this year as it is a quicker way to get information out in a timely fashion.

I ultimately am hoping to come up with some kind of format that will see a weekly look at various things — ie a weekly junior hockey segment, a weekly pro hockey segment and a weekly local hockey information package. I am actually hoping to get some real college hockey information this year — an area I have mostly neglected so far and perhaps break it down even a little further. For example, maybe a weekly show on just the USHL or NAHL and one for Tier 3 Hockey. Upload time will be my biggest enemy on this quest.

Anyway, that’s the vision I have. Let’s see if I can get this thing off of the ground — and if it will fly.
