Waterloo forward, Conger commits to Providence

Waterloo, Iowa (Courtesy Waterloo Black Hawks) – Bailey Conger’s steady regular season and superlative playoff performance have provided the Waterloo Black Hawks forward with the opportunity to join the Providence College Friars this fall.

During 2016/17 – his first full United States Hockey League season – Conger ranked fifth in scoring for the Hawks, recording 42 points (17 goals, 25 assists) in 59 games.  He also owned a +9 plus/minus differential.  After missing the regular season opener, the Idaho native was in the lineup for the remainder of Waterloo’s schedule.  Conger’s campaign was highlighted by four game-winning goals, including two in overtime. 

He opened the playoffs in the same fashion.  On April 14^th, Conger scored the winning goal to lift Waterloo to a 4-3 overtime victory during Game One of a first-round playoff series against the Fargo Force.

He duplicated the feat in Game Four during the next round versus the Sioux City Musketeers.  All totaled, Conger led the Black Hawks with eight playoff points (four goals, four assists) in eight postseason appearances.

Conger’s 2016/17 Black Hawks teammate, Jake Ryczek, is also committed to Providence.  Current Friars sophomore Bryan Lemos skated for Waterloo during the 2014/15 USHL season.

With Conger’s commitment, 21 players who ended the 2016/17 campaign as Black Hawks have made NCAA Division I college commitments.
