Vaughan and Hayes sign with Wolves

The Chicago Wolves continue to improve the roster with a pair of recent signings, defenseman Scooter Vaughan and winger Eriah Hayes.

Vaughan, a 26-year-old, 6’1.” 2015 lbs. defenseman from Placentia, CA is entering his third season of play in the AHL, both prior seasons with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, after a couple of seasons with South Carolina in the ECHL.

Last season, Vaughn played in 71 games for Bridgeport and collected 16 points (9g, 7a) along with 102 penalty minutes. He started his pro career in 2011-12 after finishing four seasons at University of Michigan.

Hayes, a 27-year-old, 6′.4″ 209 lbs. winger from La Crosse, WI played primarily in Worcester in the AHL for the past two seasons, but also had call ups to the parent team in San Jose both seasons.

Last season the right winger played in 59 games at Worcester, collecting 25 points (8g, 17a) along with 40 penalty minutes and he finished the season as a +4 on the ice. He added three more points (1g, 2a) in four playoff games and also played four games with the Sharks.

Hayes began playing pro after graduating from four seasons at Minnesota State-Mankato in 2013. Before that he played a season in the NAHL at Topeka and a season with Waterloo in the USHL.

Pre-season contests

While the league has yet to release its regular season schedule (it is expected in the next couple of weeks according to the AHL website), the Wolves have announced a pair of pre-season contests, at Rockford Oct. 1 and then on home ice at the Triphahn Center Ice Arena Oct. 3 against the Milwaukee Admirals.
