Stezka shutout gets Steel within a win of Clark Cup
A 27-save shutout from Ales Stezka pushed the Chicago Steel to a 3-0 win against the Sioux City Musketeers at the Fox Valley Ice Arena Friday (May 19, 2017) and within a win of capturing the United States Hockey League’s Clark Cup Championship.
The Steel picked up a goal in each period and that was more than enough for the win. Jack Badini fired the game winner 4:18 into the contest with other goals added by Johnny Walker, late in the second and Eduards Tralmaks who clinched the win with an empty netter 1:50 from the final buzzer.
Matiss Kivlenieks turned in a solid effort between the pipes for the Musketeers with 33 saves.
Game four of the Best of Five Series will be played on Saturday (May 20). A win for the Steel would give them the Clark Cup Championship while the Musketeers are hoping to win and bring the series back to the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City for one final game.
