Steen’s goal not enough as Blues fall to Preds

Alex Steen scored the lone goal for St. Louis as the Blues fell behind in its National Hockey League Central Conference final with a 3-1 loss at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Friday (April 30, 2017).

Steen’s goal cut into a 2-0 Nashville lead with 7:01 to play in the middle period. Ryan Ellis fired his third of the post season and second in two games to open the scoring halfway through the first period and Cody McLeod added his second of the playoffs 2:29 into the second period.

Roman Josi fired his third with 5:49 to play padding the Predators’ margin and clinching the victory for the Nashville squad that avenged its first loss of the post season a few nights earlier and grabbed a 2-1 lead in the series.

Pekka Rinne collected his sixth win of the post season handling 22 of 23 shots in the game while Jake Allen turned aside 23 of 26 in goal for the Blues.

The Blues will be looking to even the series and recapture home ice advantage in Game Four scheduled for Sunday (May 2) in Nashville.
