Routheau leads Iron Rangers to SIJHL road win

A pair of goals from Hunter Routheau, 20, from Green Bay WI paced the Minnesota Iron Rangers to a 4-2 win against the English River Miners at Couchenour Arena in Ear Falls, ON Saturday (Sept. 19).

The win secured a winning weekend for the lone American team in the SIJHL as it also earned a win in shootout the previous night. Teams are scheduled to play one more Sunday afternoon.

Both teams scored one in the opening period, the Iron Rangers adding a pair of unanswered middle period markers and then clinching the win with a powerplay goal 2:28 from the final buzzer, negating a Miners goal earlier in the frame.

Dalton Johnson from Cloquet, MN scored a goal and added an assist, the other Iron Rangers goal coming from Josh Gouin, 19, from Ontario.

Landen Matechuk, 20, from British Columbia and Kyle Crawford, 18, from Alberta scored the Miner goals.

Kyle Carignan, 19, from Oregon, made 31 saves to grab the win in goal for the Iron Rangers, Reid Kilburn, 19, from British Columbia turning aside 23 for the Miners.
