Roadrunners rally back for NAHL weekend split

A pair of second period goals wiped out a 1-0 deficit and lifted the host Topeka Roadrunners to a 2-1 edge against the Corpus Christi IceRays at the Kansas ExpoCenter on Sunday (Sept. 20).

Andy McGlynn, 18, from St. Louis, MO scored the lone IceRays goal on a powerplay in the game’s third minute, but that was all they would get by goaltender Tyler Johnson, 17, from New York who stopped a baker’s dozen shots to nail down the win for the Roadrunners.

Quinn Preston, 17, from Trenton, MI scored the equalizer 5:53 into the second period and the game winner came on a powerplay just past the halfway mark of the period off of the stick of Ryan O’Connor, 19, from New York.

This was the final game of the weekend, setting up the annual Showcase Tournament to be held at the Schwann Super Rinks at Blaine, MN beginning Wednesday (Sept. 23).
