One down, 38 to go.

By Jim den Hollander

This afternoon, I was putting together my wrap up of games involving Midwest teams at he NAHL Showcase tournament which was now played almost a month ago at Blaine, MN.

It was one of the stories I have done in recent days in an effort  to ‘catch up’ and get to  real time game stories as well as more updates as they occur as well.

I was feeling pretty good about how hard I was working to get things done and clearly I was feeling pretty cocky as well.

I was texting with a friend and hopefully soon to be partner as I hope to take MIDWEST HOCKEY to the next level. We work close to each other and have regular lunch meetings at a local establishment where we talk midweek hockey every week and I told him I had a goal of being entirely caught up by the time we meet again on Wednesday.

I decided to get organized and come up with a list of stories I need to write to get on the current time frame. I nearly filled the front and back of my steno pad page coming up with 39 stories.

That was early this afternoon. Now it is approaching 11 p.m. and I can scratch the first story off of that list. To make things worse, I can think of at least a half dozen I forgot to include and they will have to be slotted in there somewhere as well.

This is a labor of love, but it seems so easy to fall behind. As exciting as it all sounds in the summer and as much as you feel prepared for the challenges ahead it seems so hard to catch up when the season happens.

I am confident I can do it but it means no days off. I have to fit it into my own regular schedule, so it will never been an all day type of thing, but I am determined to catch up a bit at a time.  We have other stuff planned to make this much more than just a blogger clacking away at the keys and regurgitating game scores and details.

But all of that is in the future. For now, I hope you will excuse me. I have some catching up to do.
