Next phase — College hockey

This will not be the first story I write about how overwhelming the job of covering the Midwest Hockey niche is and it likely won’t be the last.
In previous seasons, I have tried hard to stay on top of all levels of pro an junior hockey in the American Midwest, leaving out College for a couple reasons.
The primary reason is just how much it adds. There are just so many levels of college Hockey NCAA Divisions 1 and 3 as well as three more divisions of ACHA club teams. Double that when considering each of those divisions is available for both men and women.
The other reason admittedly is because I generally have no interest in the college game myself. I am not sure why that is, but I usually lose contact with players at the college level and then pick it up again at the pro level.
I have no reason for that lack of interest other than perhaps tying it in with the earlier reason – it is just overwhelming due to the volume of teams.
In the weeks ahead I hope to do some type of previews on each level and then I will be facing the challenge of keeping up on the teams and hopefully passing on the rankings – always a popular part of the college game – each week as well.
