Monsters open training camp with 24

The Lake Erie Monsters officially began a new era Sunday (Sept. 27) as the official top level minor team for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Previously playing out of Springfield, MA; the Jackets moved into Cleveland for the new season with an opening day roster of 24 players including three goaltenders (Anton Forsberg, Joonas Korpisalo and Brad Theissen) along with eight defensemen (Dillon Heatherington, Oleg Yevenko, Austin Madaiskey, John Ramage, Jaime Sifers, Michael Paliotta, Ben Wilson and Brandon Martell) and 13 forwards (Brent Gallant, Sonny Milano, Alex Broadhurst, Ryan Craig, Lukas Sedlak, Nick Moutrey, T.J. Tynan, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Trent Vogelhuber, Seth Ambroz, Peter Quennesville, Justin Kovacs and Christian Isaacson.

The Monsters began with practices and will play a pair of exhibition games against the Grand Rapids Griffins before opening the season at home against the Rochester Americans on Oct. 9
