Hawks Award Seabrook with an ‘A’

With the trade of Patrick Sharp, one of the team’s assistant captains over the off season, the Chicago Blackhawks had an opening and early in the pre-season have awarded the letter to Brent Seabrook.

A 30-year-old native of Richmond, BC, Seabrook has played his entire career so far with the Hawks after being selected by the team in the First Round (14th Overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

An 11 year team member, Seabrook in an ironman, playing in all 82 games five times and missing just one game in 2006-7. He has played less than 69 games only once, appearing in 47 in the 2012-13 campaign. During that stretch, Seabrook, who also wore the ‘A” from 2007 until the 2013-14 campaign.

He served as a member of the Canadian Olympic Games Gold Medal winning team in 2012 and also won gold with Team Canada in the 2005 World Cup.

Seabrook’s defense partner, Duncan Keith wear’s the other ‘A’ and the team’s captain has been Jonathan Toews since 2008.
