Crawford stops 41 to lead Hawks past Habs

The Chicago Black Hawks remain undefeated in regulation time and successfully erased a not so great memory on Tuesday (Oct 10, 2017) at Montreal’s Bell Center with a 3-1 win against the host Canadiens.

Coming off a tough 4-3 overtime loss in Toronto the previous night after leading 3-1 halfway through the final period, the Hawks surrendered an early goal in Montreal but then rallied back for the win.

After the opening goal, scored by Tomas Plekanec just 75 seconds into the match, Corey Crawford turned aside every remaining chance for a 41-save victory in goal for the Hawks.

Alex DeBrincat hammered a one-timer past Carey Price in the Montreal goal on a feed from Patrick Sharp with 2:07 to go in the frame for his first NHL goal.

Brandon Saad, returned to the Hawks in a multi-player trade over the summer scored his fifth of the young season just 19 seconds later with assists for Jonathan Toews and Richard Panik and the Hawks led the rest of the way.

Artem Anisimov scored the other Hawks’ goal just past the halfway mark of the second with assists for DeBrincat and Cody Franson.

The win boosted the Hawks’ record to 3-0-1-0 so far and brought an end to a quick two-game road trip. The Hawks return to the United Center Thursday (Oct. 12) to play the Minnesota Wild and then gets a chance to avenge last season’s first round playoff exit when the Nashville Predators pay a visit on Saturday.
