Chauvette remains perfect in goal for USA at Five Nations Tournament

Robert Christy, a 16-year-old forward from Minneapolis, MN (St. Thomas Academy) powered the Team USA U-17 Select offense with two goals helping the team move itself to within a win of a third straight Five Nations Tournament Championship on Saturday (August 26, 2017).

While Christy was leading the charge on offense, Kyle Chauvette, a 15-year-old goaltender from New Hampshire (New Hampshire Junior Monarchs 16U) stopped all 11 of the shots he faced in a 6-0 win for Team USA against Team Germany. Chauvette has yet to be beat through four periods of play and 20 shots.

Team USA dominated this one with a 41-11 edge in shots. The Americans scored twice in the opening period and once more in the middle frame before putting the game away with three more down the stretch.

Along with Christy, team USA received goals from Grant Sillianov, 16, from Edina, MN (Shattuck St. Mary’s), Jake Hale, Minneapolis, MN (Dubuque Fighting Saints – USHL), John Farinacci, 16, from New Jersey (Dexter School) and Josh Nodler, 16, from Oak Park, MI (Honeybaked 16U). Sillianov and Hale have both scored goals in all three games so far.

The win sets up a showdown tomorrow against the Czech Republic for top spot in the five-team event. The American side has been dominant so far with a scoring edge of 21-2 through its first nine periods of play.
