Beydoun shutout leads Black Hawks to sweep of Force.

Home ice wasn’t able to help the Fargo Force on Tuesday (April 18) as the Waterloo Black Hawks collected a 3-0 win at the Scheels Arena to complete a three game sweep and advance to the United States Hockey League West Conference championship round.

Black Hawks opened the series with a pair of wins on home ice on the previous weekend, taking the first 4-3 in overtime at Young Arena on April 14 and then 4-1 the following night.

At Scheels, Robbie Beydoun. 20, from Plymouth, MI and headed for Michigan Tech in the fall, turned aside all 24 Force sheets to make life easier for his teammates.

Jackson Cates, 19, from Stillwater, MN, scored the game winner 5:32 from the end of the opening period and that lead held up all of the way into the third when Shane Bowers, 17, from Nova Scotia scored an early goal to pad the margin and Bailey Conger, 19, from Idaho clinched the win with his empty netter with 81 seconds to go. Cates has committed to Boston University.

Force goaltender, Ryan Bischel, 17, from Medina, MN, committed to Clarkson University,  turned aside 35 of 37 shots in goal.

The Black Hawks will now await a winner of the Sioux City Musketeers vs. Des Moines Buccaneers series, currently led 2-0 by the Musketeers with game three scheduled for Friday (April 21). Winner of that series will advance to the league’s Clark Cup Championship.
