Caron and Copley moved to Wolves

The St. Louis Blues moved a little closer to its final roster, moving forward Jordan Caron and goaltender Pheonix Copley to the Chicago Wolves, its American Hockey League affiliate team.

Caron, a 24-year-old, 6’3,” 205 lbs. forward from Sayabec, QC was selected in the First Round (25th Overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins and was moved this past spring to the Colorado Avalanche for Paul Carey and Maxime Talbot. He signed with the Blues as a Free Agent on July 3.

Caron has played 153 NHL games with the Bruins and Avs and he as also appeared in 134 American Hockey League games — all with the Providence Bruins. Last season, Caron played 11 games in Boston, collecting 16 penalty minutes and 23 games at Providence where he collected 19 points (9g, 10a) and 10 penalty minutes before moving on to Colorado where he played in another 19 games and picked up one minor penalty.

Copley, a 23-year-old, 6’4,” 196 lbs. goaltender from  North Pole, AK left Michigan Tech in 2014 and he played a few games with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL at the end of that season. Last year, he appeared in 26 games with the American Hockey League’s Hershey Bears, posting a 2.17 Goals Against Average and .925 Save Percentage. He was at one point called up by the Washington Capitals, but never appeared in a game.

This move cements the goaltending on the Blues as returners Jake Allen and Brian Elliott are the only goaltenders remaining in camp. Look for them to mostly share the load again this season.

The Blues have 27 players still in camp, including both Scott Gomez and Scottie Upshall who attended on Professional Tryout Contracts.
