Bengstberg, Humphries and Gobeil added to Icemen roster

The Evansville Icemen recently added three more players to its training camp roster, including a young goaltender who will be playing in North America for the first time.

Christoffer Bengtsberg from Stockholm, Sweden is a 25-year-old, 5’11.” 176 lbs. goaltender who has played all of his hockey from junior through last season on various Scandinavian teams. Last season Bengtsberg played a total of 33 games with five different teams, including 15 with Huddinge IK in Division 1 where he posted a 1.85 Goals Against Average and a Save Percentage of .914. He also appeared in nine games at Sodertajle in the Allsvenskan League posting a 2.23 GAA and a Save Percentage of .913.

Spencer Humphries, a 23-year-old, 6’2.” 209 lbs. defenseman from Delta BC will be returning to the Icemen after coming over from Greenville to play the final 15 games in Evansville last season.

Humphries collected four points (1g, 3a) and 7 penalty minutes with the Icemen, but in his 52 games with the Road Warriors he notched 23 points (2g, 21a) along with 50 penalty minutes and a +15 rating.

Humphries played with both Tri-City and Calgary in the WHL as a junior and also spent some time in the BCHL with Westside. He made his pro debut in 2012-13 in the KHL and Czech pro leagues, before coming to the ECHL last season.

Also signed on is rookie forward Thomas Gobeil, a 6’0,” 201 lbs. native of St. Hubert, QC who won’t turn 21 until November.

Gobeil played parts of four seasons in the QMJHL, starting out at Baie Comeau and eventually moving on to Chicoutimi and then Val-d’Or. Last season he moved to the west coast, playing in the BCHL with Cowichan Valley and Victoria. He played in 41 games, collecting 40 points (25g, 15a) and 63 penalty minutes.
