KC Scouts (Pilots) announce Francois’ committment to play at UW-Superior

The Kansas City Scouts (formerly the Topeka Pilots) are pleased to announce that forward Matthew Francois has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

Francois, 21, just completed his third and final season of playing junior hockey, which was spent in both the NAHL and NA3HL. For the past two seasons, the 6’0/174 lbs. native of Aurora, Colorado, has played in the NAHL for the Topeka Pilots.

During the 2019-20 season, Francois had 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists) in 47 games played. During the 2018-19 season, he posted 14 points in 57 games played.

“Matt came to our Main Camp in 2018 as a free agent after spending the previous season in the NA3HL with the Coulee Region Chill. He earned a spot on our roster through his attention to detail and work ethic. Matt ended up playing two full seasons for us and brought consistency and grit against some of the best players in the South every night. We wish him all the best in the next chapter of his academic and hockey career,” said Scouts head coach Simon Watson.

Prior to playing in the NAHL, Francois spent a season in the NA3HL playing for the Coulee Region Chill during the 2017-18 campaign. In 42 games played that season, Francois recorded 57 points (18 goals, 39 assists).

He also played in the 2018 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the Selects White team, where he had a goal and an assist.
