Wings send Czarnowczan to Grand Rapids
The Detroit Red Wings made a roster move Saturday (Oct. 3), reassigning Scott Czarnowczan to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Czarnowczan, a 24-year-old, 5’10,” 176 lbs. defenseman from Macomb Cty., MI finished his fourth season at Ferris State University, wearing the captain’s ‘C’ in 2013-14 and got his first taste of pro with Idaho of the ECHL, playing two games there at the end of the season.
Last season, Czarnowczan split time between Grand Rapids and the ECHL affiliate at Toledo, playing 29 regular season games with each team and playing a part in the lone playoff run for the Walleye. With the Griffs, Czarnowczan collected 11 points (2g, 9a) and 30 penalty minutes and he shone with the Toledo Walleye, collecting 25 regular season points (2g, 23a) and added 14 assists in 15 playoff encounters.
