The USA’s top junior hockey league, contained entirely in the American Midwest, will once again open its regular season with a visit to Pittsburgh.

The DICK’S Sporting Goods Showcase tournament in Cranberry Township, PA, near Pittsburgh will see all 16 teams in action, giving high level scouts a chance to see everyone at once.

The event will run from Sept. 22-25 with 10 teams — five from the Eastern Conference and five from the Western Conference going head-to-head with two games for each team against an opponent from the opposite division, the first on Sept. 22 and the second the following day.

The other six teams will be on hand Sept. 24-25.

Teams will return home to begin the final 60-games of their 62-game schedule beginning the following weekend.

A dozen teams will be in action Sept. 30, including all eight from the Eastern Conference with home games for the Muskegon Lumberjacks, Green Bay Gamblers, Madison Capitols, Cedar Rapids Roughriders, Lincoln Stars and Tri-City Storm.
